That day at Naguabo we're filming the documentary "Los Herederos del Hippie", produced and directed by Roberto. Will talk more about that later because right now I'm in a rush. See you people.

First I will take that all saying… “When the student is ready, the teacher show itself.” For “teacher” it really don’t have to be someone in front of you telling loud and clear what you need to hear. I got lot of “teachers”, parents, school and college professors, friends, radio, TV and the most direct cinema and books.

The people who is around me is not “bad” people, and the ones who gave me advice I know do it with a kind heart, but… the reality is that they have a vision of life that is far from what I think life is. Must of them live the same “reality” in which I find myself right now, they speak from the POV of their experiences, they talk what they see. So, even if they have good advice, their advice is for that reality, if I want to move out of that circle I have to find advice from the outside.

By far books are the best way to find that outside advice, even better than internet in some ways. These “teachers” gave me a lot of knowledge and even wisdom. Later I would give a list of my fav ones.

Cinema comes next. It’s not because I want to do movies that cinema helps me, it’s because in movies you can “see” beyond what it’s around you. I’m not talking about special effects, I’m talking about the stories, the “bones and marrow”. Movies can make you realize things that maybe you don’t have the chance to experience firsthand.

And finally, how I’m sure I want to do this? There are some questions to help you find out if you really like and really want to do something…

Did you stay awake late at night thinking in that stuff?

Did you wake up and suddenly think in a new way of do that?

The magazines which you bought or are attracted to, are related to that?

When someone is speaking about it you have the urge to jump in the conversation to help that person understand it better?

Imagine you’re 95 years old, you look back at what you’re doing right now, how do you feel about it?

Would you do that thing even if you don’t get paid? - Like a hobby or voluntary work.

Are you willing to make sacrifices for it?

If you know for sure that you would fail in it, would you try it anyway?

Trough experience you’ll see what you really love and what you really don’t. Discover what you really love is a long process. It’s trial and error. It’s important to be honest with yourself, and that is a very difficult thing to do, I’m still learning that. At the end what matters is that you do what you love, if you suddenly realize that what you’re doing doesn’t interest you anymore, quit. If you quit because that realization and not because fear, laziness or frustration, you’ll not be a loser, you’ll be wise. What other people said is just talk.
